Execution of the Deed of Variation

    Sir Philip Albert Martin McBride was the Minister for defence in the Menzies Government from 1950 -1958.

    Sir Frederick Lloyd Dumas was the second Chairman of the Advertiser Newspapers Limited, the publisher of The Advertiser in Adelaide.

    Sir Frederick Lloyd Dumas replaced James Frederick Downer as a Director and Trustee on his death.

    Sir Tom Elder Barr Smith is the grandson of Robert Barr Smith, the co-founder of Elder Smith & Co Limited.

    Collier Robert Cudmore was in 1933 elected to the Legislative Council as a member for Adelaide Central District No.2. An able speaker and committee-man, he led his party in the Upper House from 1939 until his retirement in 1959.

    Alexander John Melrose (1889-1962) was a member of the House of Assembly in 1933-41 and of the Legislative Council in 1941-62.

    W(illiam) Murray Fowler was the second Chairman of D&J Fowler Ltd a wholesale grocery company in Adelaide.

    Sir Frederick Lloyd Dumas was the second Chairman of the Advertiser Newspapers Limited, the publisher of The Advertiser in Adelaide.

    Sir Frederick Lloyd Dumas replaced James Frederick Downer as a Director and Trustee on his death.

    Recitals

    The original Trust Deed is recited:

    “…DO BY THIS DEED make the following provisions in addition to and the following alterations in the provisions of the deed dated the twenty third day of December One thousand nine hundred and thirteen…..”

    The name of the Fund is recited:

    The Provident and Guarantee Fund” and the name was amended to “The Provident Fund”

    The Power of Amendment {Regulation 28} is recited and renumbered to Regulation 44.
